Target Fittness Weight Management Program Manual
 Introduction

The Target Fitness Weight Management Program is a research-based comprehensive 12-week group weight management program with a long track record for success and a companion participant book, Losing Weight Permanently with the Bull’s-Eye Food Guide. 

  • The weight management program has been offered through the Department of Family Medicine at Stony Brook University Medical Center for over 5 years in health care settings, worksite, gyms, churches and libraries.

    • Participants lose an average of 10 to 20 pounds during the program. 

    • The program is currently being used as part of a clinical trial on weight management being conducted at the NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center at Stony Brook University.

  • The companion book, written by the Josephine Connolly Schoonen, MS, RD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Stony Brook University will program participants to review concepts presented during the classes for maximal results.
